The Tempest will make its first appearance at the war this year all be it in fewer numbers.

  • I am currently looking in to adding Facebook connect to the wiki half of our website. This will allow for a smoother transition between both half’s of our site.
  • A twitter feed has been added. Keep up to speed on what the ship is doing.
  • Facebook has now been integrated into our site. Just use the Connect with Facebook link on the right side of the page to log in. This allows you to comment with your facebook account and to share it with your friends.

Well winter is in full effect, and all pirate activity has gone into hibernation. But this does not mean we are not being active. There are a few things coming up that some of us will be attending.

First up is the Civil War Lan. This event is going to be held on the OSU Campus in the Club Level at Reser Stadium on January 22 at 4pm till 4pm the following day. The event includes console and computer gaming. Consoles will be provided by the event staff, but bring your own PC, Monitor, Keyboard and Mouse. Your allowed two power ports and a chunk of table space. We are going to do our best to setup near each other. The Garlic Bread Kings (Official Gaming Group of the Tempest) will be out in force for this event. Members of the clan from Canada and California will be making the long trip to Corvallis Oregon to meet up for the event. Any Tempest members and friends of the Tempest that are not part of GBK are invited to come out and join us.

Secondly the Tempest has a meeting coming up in January as well. The date is yet to be announced but will be decided on soon and posted here. This meeting we will be doing the official vote on the changes to the by laws that were submitted a few months back but put on hold due to an increase in personal issues with our members. With this new by laws we will be enacting the new dues system. With this system we will be collecting everyone’s $15.00 that will be due. We are hoping that by January things will be sorted out for everyone. If you have any suggestions or limitations on when you can attend a meeting let me know.

On a different note, it looks like we will be increasing our number of guests and petitioners this next year. I have heard that quite a few new people want to attend next year’s event. This is great to hear, and really exciting. The events are fun and interesting to attend, but can be very intimidating to someone that is used to mundane life. This is where a sponsor comes into play. Sponsors are there to guide our new petitioners into the pirating society.  Tempest members know that some of the night time activities can be a culture shock to some and may be offensive to others, so its best to give our guests a run down of what to expect. I would like to gather up the names and email addresses from sponsors of the people that will be attending. I would like to send out a starter guide to our guests explaining the details and what is expected of them if they are staying with us during events.

Hope to see everyone soon.

PDXLAN 14.5 is coming up soon. This looks like a great event for the computer gamers in our ship to attend. I have copied some info below from the website. Continue Reading »

  • The forums have been opened. I will be adding more as time goes on. The link is located at the top of the page.

The winter months are approaching fast. Out here in the Pacific Northwest there is not much to do in the way of pirating during this time of year. There are a few little things but the season is pretty much over for most of us. This is the time we spend getting ourselves prepared for the next season. With some work this winter we will be ready for an earlier start next year. Continue Reading »
